Making sculptures has a long history and tradition in Africa. (See also under Traditional Art) The modern African sculptor cannot deny this, his heritage. We see many sculptures reminiscent of their ancient roots in African culture. Early cave paintings of wildlife have evolved. Today many of our sculptors are still in awe of the beautiful wildlife that is their heritage. They express their art using various indigenous woods, stone or even scrap metal. The ancient art of bronze casting is still used by today's modern artist, as well as the prehistoric use of clay.
Today's modern African Sculptors have found much praise the world over.
