Lionel Njuguna comes from Muranga, a bustling trading center in the heart of Kenya's Kikuyu land, in colonial times referred to as the "white highlands."
Young Lionel grew up under the tutorage of his famous father, a well known painter in his own time. At the tender age of only 9 years, Lionel won his first award. Since that day, much public encouragement has motivated the artist to invest his heart and imagination in the creative process.
His paintings combine the essential African spirit with modern times. ("The big wait") His vivid color combinations in contrast with light reflect life in rural Kenya with such intrinsic intensity that has won him much praise from international art critics. ("Sunny Day")
Lionel Njuguna has exhibited successfully several times in his native Kenya. He has the promise to become one of Africa's leading modern Artists.
